Will teleteleportation ever be a reality?

Teleportation is possible, but how long will it be until humans can use the technology? IT MIGHT sound like something straight out of science fiction, but experts are already able to teleport atoms. So how long before humans can use the tech? Star Trek was renowned for its teleportation scenes, but this could soon be a reality. Source:Supplied

Why can’t scientists teleport humans yet?

If you want to know why scientists can’t teleport humans yet, just look at the numbers. Quantum teleportation takes one unit of information and makes its “appear” somewhere else. The body is made of 50 trillion units (cells), and each cell is much more complex than an individual photon.

How much computing power would it take to teleport a person?

According to a highly entertaining University of Leicester study into the computing power required to teleport a human being, your cells, broken down into data, equates around 2.6 x 10 42 bits, which is 2.6 followed by 42 zeroes. Is it possible to teleport photons to a satellite?

More recently scientists both in the US and China have been trying. Just last year, Chinese scientists were able to “teleport” photons to a satellite 300 miles away, using a phenomenon called “quantum entanglement”.

What are the limitations of quantum teleportation?

NO-FTL-communication: quantum teleportation does NOT enable faster-than-light communication. To the best of our current knowledge, this is still regarded as impossible. NO-cloning: quantum teleportation does NOT enable us to clone unknown quantum states.

Is it possible to teleport to another planet?

In 1,000 years time, this might actually be a possibility, scientists believe. It might sound like something straight out of science fiction, but experts are already able to teleport, reports The Sun. Last year Canadian scientists successfully teleported tiny atoms faster than the speed of light.
