What has influenced you to be a teacher?

Many teachers discover that their love of children draws them to teaching, or that their own love of learning makes them passionate about teaching. Others are inspired by a teacher earlier in their education who had a positive impact on them.

How would you describe an influential teacher?

Influential teachers encourage students and use their mistakes to teach them. They are themselves. They do not pretend to be someone else, their attitude is the same inside and outside the classroom. They are not scared of being judged by their students.

What is the most important thing that being a teacher has contributed to your life?

They Provide the Power of Education Knowledge and education are the basis for all things that can be accomplished in life. Teachers provide the power of education to today’s youth, thereby giving them the possibility for a better future. Teachers simplify the complex, and make abstract concepts accessible to students.

How do teachers have strong impact on students?

Teachers have a very significant, lifelong impact on all of their students. This impact involves not only the teaching of particular academic skills, but as importantly, the fostering of student self-esteem. Reinforcing self-esteem in the classroom is associated with increased motivation and learning.

How can teachers inspire students?

One way to encourage students and teach them responsibility is to get them involved in the classroom. Make participating fun by giving each student a job to do. Give students the responsibility of tidying up or decorating the classroom. Assign a student to erase the blackboard or pass out materials.

What is it that you can accomplish in teaching that you find particularly valuable and worthwhile? Example: I believe each and every child has the potential to bring something unique and special to the world. I will help children to develop their potential by believing in them as capable individuals.

How do teachers influence students in school?

Teachers can have a huge influence on their students. This goes much deeper than the lessons they teach. You only have to reflect on your own time in school to realize how positive or negative experiences can stick with you for the rest of your life. Educators need to remember that they hold great power over students.

The teacher who most inspired me was Edred Wright, director of music at the King’s School, Canterbury. His great gift was being able to inspire children (like me) who weren’t necessarily musically gifted – that’s what we should require of teachers in all subjects.

How can educators change a student’s career?

Educators need to remember that they hold great power over students. By encouraging a struggling student and explaining how she can be successful, a teacher can use words and tone to change that student’s career. A perfect example of this happened to my niece.
