Jesus said it was hard for a rich person to go to heaven just after he asked a rich man to sell all that he owned to give the proceeds to the poor and then come follow Him (see Luke 18:22–25). Jesus said this with the promise of going to heaven if he did it. But the rich man could not bring himself to do it.
