Do Iitians also give GATE exam?

Tech Admission for Sponsored Seats at IISc, IITs and NITs. IISc, IITs and NITs offer regular M. These candidates don’t need to appear for the GATE entrance exam for admission in M. Tech programmes.

Are IITians interested in the GATE exam?

Normally no IITians are interested in GATE because they don’t want to do M.Tech in India. Even if they do, they can get in their home IIT without GATE. And in their 3rd year they get the option of converting the B.Tech course to a 5 year dual degree course which is an integrated B.TECH+M.TECH course that too in 5 years.

Do dual degree students need to take interest in the gate?

1. Dual degree students with 4th year GPA less than 8.0 need to qualify in GATE in order to avail the masters scholarships in the final year. This is a joke because GATE is so easy to crack. And qualification in GATE often means scoring just about 25 out of 100. That doesn’t require one to take interest in GATE.

Why do students from Teir 2 and Teir 3 give gate?

Students from Teir 2 and Teir 3 give GATE for wider exposure, better reasearch and job opportunities. Students at IIT prefer MS/PhD in a foreign university. Due to lucrative job oppurtunities many students are left with only two options a 1. Take a JOB or 2.
