Is CFA curriculum enough? This will vary depending on your circumstance, but we’ll try and give you a simple answer: it is unlikely, but possible. The CFA Institute curriculum has improved a lot, and continues to do so, but we would advise to use extra study notes and practice exams at the very least.

Is 3 months enough to study CFA Level 1?

CFA candidates usually start preparing from 6 to 4 months before their exam. However, this does not mean 3 months are not enough. On average, it takes about 300 study hrs to prepare for the CFA level 1 exam. To get those 300 hrs, you’ll need to devote around 22 study hrs per week.

Without any (or much) background in finance, the Schweser study notes might be ok, but unfortunately there is no substitute for thorough reading – hence, the CFA Institute’s textbooks will work best. Overall, just remember that context is key. Be real with your own educational/work background. When in doubt, stick to the CFA Institute’s textbooks.
