The candidates are deputed for SSB interview. After qualifying SSB these candidates undergo medical examination and if found fit, are inducted in the Indian Navy on the basis of All India Merit. The training of officers selected through this entry normally commences in the month of Jan/Jul every year.

Yes ,contrary to popular belief, there are Indian Navy entries without SSB. It requires the permission and order of the President of India to get selected without SSB. There is one direct entry without SSB for Navy as per my knowledge other than medical officers entry. (My knowledge is still limited and there can be others also.)

What is the procedure to become an Indian Army officer?

The training of officers selected through this entry normally commences in the month of Jan/Jul every year. 12 th Pass with 70\% in PCM and 50\% in English in 10 th or 12 th standard can apply for IN officers’ entry viz 10+2 (B.Tech). Wef Jan 17, JEE (Mains) rank has been made compulsory to apply for 10+2 (B.Tech) entry.

Is there any written test is conducted for the SSB entry?

No written test is conducted for this entry. The eligible candidates are required to forward their application directly to IHQ MoD (N)/ DMPR through DGNCC. The candidates are deputed for SSB interview.
