Is one AP class enough?
Is one AP class enough?
Freshman Year: Consider taking one or two AP classes that are less demanding and build on skills from middle school, including Environmental Science, Human Geography, or Psychology. An Ivy League hopeful might take 3 to 5 AP classes, while if you’re aiming for less-selective schools, 2 to 4 would be enough.
How many AP classes should I take for Yale?
The smartest counselors are telling them that four to six AP courses and tests are enough to satisfy the ivyest Ivy.
Will taking one more AP class affect my college application?
Adding one more AP class will not have a huge effect on your college chances at this point, but it could significantly reduce the time you spend on applications and therefore hurt your admission chances. Be careful about burning yourself out, especially senior year. You will need to devote lots of time and energy to your college apps!
Should I take AP classes freshman year or sophomore year?
You don’t need to take AP classes in freshman year, but taking them in sophomore year shows that you want to add rigor to your coursework. I’m also currently a freshman, and I am taking three AP classes this year (AP Calc AB, AP gov, and AP Environmental Science).
Should I take more than 3 APS a year?
It’s best not to take more than 3 APs a year, in my opinion, because it can be very stressful. And as someone who has done AP World and is currently doing AP Environmental, you’re going to be working hard enough already! See how you do next year with 3 APs, first before deciding to do any more than 3.
Should I apply to Brown University with 12 APS?
Also keep in mind that if you apply to Brown with 12 APs, you’ve wasted your time since they give you ZERO AP credit. And most of the top Ivys only give you credit for a 5 and that’s on a subset of APs, some courses like AP Human Geo, AP Environ, AP Psych, or AP Physics 1/2 or AP World Hist, never count in Ivys.
