Does MIT interview mean anything?
Interviews are not a required part of the MIT application. While we try to offer as many interviews as we can, we have limited availability and may not able to offer interviews to all applicants. If your interview is waived, it will not put you at a disadvantage in the admissions process.
How do you know if MIT interview is waived?
If we are unable to offer you an interview, your interview will be waived, and your application will not be adversely affected. The interview is not a required component of the application, and the admissions committee will be aware that we were unable to offer you an interview.
Is it a good sign if I interviewed with Harvard?
If you get invited to an interview by Harvard, you stand a 64\% chance of getting accepted to the school–much better odds than if you were invited to an interview by either Stanford (48\%) or Wharton (43\%).
Does MIT have early decision?
MIT has its own online application, which is available online from mid-August through January 1. The application deadline for Early Action is November 1, and January 1 for Regular Action. Early Action decisions are non-binding, and are announced in mid-December.

Come prepared with questions for us. The interview is really more of a two-way conversation than a formal interview, and we are happy to answer questions from students. Just like you wouldn’t go to a job interview and ask what the company does, don’t come to your MIT interview and ask overly simplistic questions.

If you are offered an interview and do not take it your chances go down by 2/3. MIT can waive it and then it does not affect your chances. So a good interview is nice and necessary but is not the be all end all.

To summarize, in general being offered an interview is not a good indication of the status of your application. Furthermore, interviews will only rarely be a determining factor in your admissions process.
