How often do Marines get leave?

You receive 30 days of leave time every year. You have to run a leave request form indicating what you’re going to be during your vacation up the chain of command. If it is approved, you’re good to go on vacation when you planned.

An Infantry unit will spend months to years prior to a deployment doing a predeployment “work-up” as a unit. Field ops will last anywhere from a few days to a month plus. Some units will do a month long field op every few months. On my first work up we were in the field 3 out of 4 weeks per month.

Not all Marines see combat. You have a better chance seeing combat in the Marines. One just needs to have a Combat MOS and stay awhile. The Marines are smaller and deploy more often.
