Every U.S. pilot should have a passport—airlines and corporate operators require a U.S. Passport prior to employment.

Flight crews also have an expidited lane in customs & immagration. So they still have to show their passport, but they don’t have to wait in line like the pax do/ But they still need a crewman’s visa to enter the U.S. if they’re not U.S. citizens or permanent residents.
