Are kids more open-minded than adults?
The project I was recently involved in a research project where we found that in certain situations, children do indeed appear to be better or at least more open-minded learners than adults. We compared pre-schoolers’ and adults’ ability to learn and make generalisations about cause and effect.
Why are adults better than children?
Adults are as good, if not better, in learning and absorbing new information. The reason that it feels like children are better at it, is that they tend to constantly be in learning mode, as their experiences of the world are much more limited. Adults, on the other hand, learn only when they do so deliberately.

What’s not clear, though, is whether open parents have more well-behaved kids, or whether they are open to a broader range of behavior in their children so that they don’t view as many behaviors as bad.
