Can PhD students be professors?

Graduate students often hope to be professors. But many graduate programs prepare students to become academics and professors, and part of grad students’ training (and income sources) involves teaching. So think of graduate student instructors as professors-in-training.

Are all PhD holders professors?

Not all professors have PhDs. In fine arts, social work, and law, many professors will have an MFA, MSW, or JD (respectively) rather than a doctoral degree. And although some professors might also be doctors, “Professor” is a higher rank and thus tends to be preferred.

What percentage of people drop out of PhD?

Almost 50\% of all Doctoral Students Don’t Graduate. The Council of Graduate Schools produced a study on the PhD completion and attrition. The study looked at 49,000 students attending 30 institutions in 54 disciplines comprising 330 programs.

Do PhD students share office space with other PhD students?

These offices are mixed and owned by department and not particular professor. In USA, I believe similar is the case. Or it could be like office owned by a professor where all his students share space.

Is the PhD really that difficult?

“The PhD is indeed difficult but not when we look [at] things with passion. PhD with passion is a one-time experience.” (India)
