Why is happiness important in society?

Happy people are more successful in multiple life domains, including marriage, friendship, income, work performance, and health. Happy people get sick less often and experience fewer symptoms when they do get sick. Happy people have more friends and a better support system.

Why do we feel happiness?

We feel joy in our bodies because of the release of dopamine and serotonin, two types of neurotransmitters in the brain. Both of these chemicals are heavily associated with happiness (in fact, people with clinical depression often have lower levels of serotonin).
